PETITE BUT NOT CUTESY & CHANGING THE WAY PETITES SHOP ONLINE
Meet Adela Mei’s Founders
Champions
of riskier pieces and creating a style of your own regardless of height, Sasha
Moyer and Stacy Leung are the founders of Adela Mei, an online boutique curated for women 5'4” and shorter.
Based in San
Francisco, the duo are making the internet
petite friendly, bringing the often-forgotten petite customer to the forefront
and curating a modern collection with a decidedly international feel. The two women also share an entrepreneurial spirit,
with a passion for growing companies.
Adela Mei
Co-Founder and Creative Director, Moyer is also
a freelance stylist and art director whose experience and ability to identify,
analyze and translate key trends in fashion, beauty and accessories can be seen
in the modern Adela Mei collections. Born in New York and raised in Hong Kong
and Manila, before moving back to the United States,
Moyer worked in marketing, fashion, journalism and e-commerce for both large
and small companies. Moyer understands the
petite customer well as she is 5’4” and she takes her obsession with fashion
and mixing high-low brands to create the site’s unique aesthetic.
Having
worked for various companies including large fortune 500s and small businesses,
Leung’s focus is on business operations, marketing, and e-commerce as Adela
Mei’s Co-Founder and Director of Marketing & Operations. She grew up
in Florida, moved to Hong Kong at 10, and returned to California to study
Business and Psychology before starting her career. With Leung’s passion for
troubleshooting, she solves problems for petite women like herself - Leung is
5’3” - by offering fit suggestions, insuring quality control, expanding the
business globally, and communicating constantly with Adela Mei’s customers
online and through social media.
Named for Moyer and Leung’s petite grandmothers, Adela and
Mei, the site strives to make shopping for the petite woman a little easier –
and making alterations a thing of the past – by:
1. Offering a tight edit of the season’s
trends
2. Showing more realistic images of the
clothes by using petite models
3. Providing true measurements of each
piece for a better fit
For women who stand proudly at 5’4” or shorter, in or out of her heels, the two partners bridge the gap between high fashion and everyday clothing by sourcing small brands and favorite designers
each season to create a more reliable experience for the petite shopper.
Even though the pair just launched Adela Mei in the spring of
2014, online news sites and blogs are singing the praises of the Adela Mei
shopping experience and the two women are sought after for style ideas and
petite shopping tips. www.adelamei.com

Petite Shoppers: New Online Boutique Features Contemporary Fashions
NEW ONLINE BOUTIQUE CATERS TO CONTEMPORARY PETITE SHOPPERS
Cool, Cultured Fashions Are Shown on True Petite Models for Better Shopping Experience
San Francisco, CA - Online boutique Adela Mei brings petite shoppers a unique shopping destination and easier shopping experience, with a tightly edited selection of modern, contemporary clothing for women who stand “tall” at 5’4” and under. With a focus on silhouette and proportion, the online boutique is curated to ensure a great fit for petites.
The boutique’s co-owners, Sasha Moyer and Stacy Leung were inspired to open their unique concept when they found themselves constantly having to alter or return items bought online because it was hard to judge the fit shown on the 5’10” models on traditional retailer websites. Both petite women themselves, they named Adela Mei after their grandmothers, who were petite fashion-forward women as well.
The dynamic duo approaches the selection at Adela Mei with a razor focus, measuring and testing every piece. The site provides detailed measurements and fit suggestions for every size offered, ensuring that shoppers know exactly what they’re getting before they click “buy.” The clothing is presented on models with petite frames, so customers can see exactly how the items fit on someone with a similar height.
Both Moyer and Leung curate Adela Mei’s selection, and no items are put on the site’s virtual racks without both giving the thumbs up. The site offers a creative mix that’s both diverse and refined, with a focus on modern, versatile fashion that is flattering and statement making at the same time.
And though the pair have opposing senses of style – Leung is more drawn to comfortable and classic pieces while Moyer is more forward, mixing new silhouettes and blending feminine and minimalist styles – the two have stocked the shop with a wardrobe that’s both functional and fashion-forward. “We don’t believe in rules and champion riskier pieces,” says Moyer. “With our international perspective, we are always looking beyond the city we live in for style and fashion and we are constantly on the hunt for new designers and talented people from across the globe.”
Adela Mei’s website also features seasonal lookbooks, that are photographed on a size 5’4” model, so that the site’s stylists can inspire customers and give shoppers a glimpse into how the clothes look in action. Offering a full range of sizes, non-petite women are also encouraged to shop Adela Mei since the clothing is regular sized.
“Nurturing our entrepreneurial spirits and our obsession for fashion, we knew we had to create Adela Mei to honor a great idea for the often over-looked stylish petite woman” says Leung. Previously, Moyer and Leung both worked for a Fortune 500 company. Moyer worked in merchandising and independent stylist projects, and also brings a fashion journalism background. Leung specialized in e-commerce and business operations. Adela Mei is the first venture into fashion retail for both partners.
