Company Donates 900 Helmets to NICA Leagues
San Diego, CA – SixSixOne, a 20-year leader in mountain bike and cycling protection, announced today that the company donated more than 900 helmets to NICA (National Interscholastic Cycling Association), a non-profit dedicated to developing an interscholastic and community-based cycling programs for student-athletes and coaches across the United States.
Helmets were donated directly to NICA’s 25 leagues and teams across the country. With SixSixOne’s goal of getting more kids on bikes, the partnership with NICA is helping the company support teens and young adults that have embraced the sport of mountain biking by making sure that riders also have high quality protective gear.
Pat Hus, Senior Vice President of Bravo Sports, SixSixOne’s parent company, adds, “We want kids and teens to ride with confidence. Partnering with NICA and supporting their great work and interscholastic leagues across the country gives us the opportunity to help many kids and families with the right protective equipment.”
“Our leagues and teams are very excited to receive this wonderful donation from SixSixOne,” said Kristine Urrutia, NICA’s Vice President of Development and Strategic Partnerships. “Our student-athletes want helmets that look cool and our coaches want helmets that provide a high level of protection and fit great!”
“These helmets are creating a variety of opportunities,” said Maryland League Director, Jon Posner. “Some teams will use them to make sure kids in need will have better access to high-quality safety equipment, while others will stay with our "Try It Out" program and loaned out to kids who borrow our Try It Out bikes to see how they like the sport. It's always great to see bike industry veterans making investments in the future and recognizing the value in supporting NICA leagues and our league's mission and programs.”
