San Diego, CA (March 16, 2017) - Sector 9 Skateboard Company, preeminent global provider of skateboards, is pleased to announce the addition of World Surf League (WSL) competitor Tia Blanco to the company’s team of professional athletes.
“I am beyond excited and honored to now be part of this amazing skate family,” says Blanco. “The crew at Sector 9 has been incredibly welcoming and genuine, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for us as a team! I am so grateful for the support I now have from Sector 9 and am looking forward to skating all over the world.”
Born in Puerto Rico, Blanco spent her early years living in Hawaii, and now calls Southern California home. The combination of time spent in these ideal surf locations and traveling the world has allowed her to develop a smooth and powerful surfing style, which has resulted in Blanco being a two-time gold medal winner of the International Surfing Association’s Open Women’s division and becoming a current member of the World Qualifying Series Tour.
“Tia is a great fit for our brand,” says Bob Tanner, Sector 9 Director of Global Marketing. “Her style, both in and out of the water, is world-class and her commitment to an active, healthy lifestyle makes her a role model for many. Surfers aren’t always able to make the transition onto a skateboard, but Tia does it with comfort, grace and ease.”
Tanner adds, “The extra bonus for us is that in addition to being a stellar ambassador for the skate/surf lifestyle, she truly personifies Sector 9’s 2017 Good Vibes Roll campaign.”
Known for its premium skateboards and related apparel, protective gear, accessories and hardware, Sector 9 is proud to be one of just a few American skateboard manufacturers. Products include boards, wheels, apparel and protective gear under the Sector 9 label and trucks under the Gullwing brand.
